Byrdine F. Lewis Clinical Practice Scholarship
This award was established to honor Mrs. Byrdine F. Lewis for whom the Georgia State University School of Nursing was named in 2003. Throughout her nursing career, Mrs. Lewis exemplified a dedication to clinical practice and quality patient care. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate nursing students who have a strong academic record and who are committed to clinical practice in a hospital setting.

The 25th annual Georgia Southern Fall 2016 Commencement Ceremony represented a momentous day as approximately 1,700 of Georgia's best and brightest undergraduate and graduate students received degrees from the University's eight colleges. Approximately 400 graduate degrees were conferred, while around 1,300 undergraduate students received degrees.

The Honors Program is designed for intellectually talented and motivated students, who benefit from small sections of core curriculum classes, lunch and dinner seminars, book discussions, and other academic and cultural events. This intellectually challenging and rewarding academic experience allows students to stretch their minds, craft unique records of experience and accomplishment, and achieve their longer-term academic and professional goals. For the program, students must maintain a 3.30 or higher institutional GPA, complete at least 18 hours of Honors course credit to graduate with Honors and remain in good standing with the program and be a member of Eta Sigma Alpha (the Honors Student Association).

UNG awards more than 800 degrees during fall 2016
The University of North Georgia awarded more than 800 degrees for the fall 2016 semester, including hundreds awarded in commencement exercises held Dec. 16-17 at the university. "We are here to honor you with the richest tradition in the academic community - a commencement ceremony," UNG President Bonita Jacobs said before conferring degrees. "We all know what it took for you to reach this moment. We know that, as graduates of UNG, you will add meaning and value to the lives of those around you. Our hopes and dreams are with you. University of North Georgia announces President's Lists for fall 2016
University of North Georgia President Bonita Jacobs recognizes more than 1,300 students who achieved a 4.0 grade point average during the fall 2016 semester. Students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in bachelor's degree programs who achieved a 4.0 grade point average were named to the President's Honor Roll. Students enrolled in associate degree programs who met the same level of achievement were named to the President's List.

The deans of each of UNG's five colleges - the College of Arts & Letters, the College of Education, the College of Health Sciences & Professions, the Mike Cottrell College of Business, and the College of Science & Mathematics - announced the names of those students who made their respective lists for fall 2016.
